The Jewish Federations of North America's National Young Leadership is a local, national and international network of socially conscious Jews in their 20s, 30s and early 40s.
Your local federation's young leadership division offers abundant opportunities to get involved, whether your interests lead you to spend time visiting seniors, collect medicine or other vital supplies for Jews overseas, or meet with political leaders as an advocate for social services. Federation also offers leadership development programs to prepare you to play a key role in the Jewish community.
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) represents 154 Jewish Federations & over 300 independent Jewish communities.
The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).
Your Local Federation is where it all starts. In every city with a Jewish community, large or small, federation is the core of a social service network that responds to urgent needs and connects the local Jewish institutions -- social service agencies, schools, synagogues, JCCs and more -- that are the fabric of our communities.
Your local federation is a team of people who care enough to want to improve an imperfect world. It’s the place to get involved if you want to be one of those people. Click here to find the federation in your home community.
Federation’s resources, combined with the experience and reach of The Jewish Federations of North America, national agencies, and our primary overseas partners, the Jewish Agency for Israel and American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, enable us to save and improve lives. Innovative federation programs build direct, meaningful connections between North American Jews and their counterparts in Israel and throughout the world. Together, we can reach every Jew in need. Here’s how we make it happen.
The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) The world's leading Jewish nonprofit organization, the Jewish Agency for Israel has been confronting the Jewish people's greatest challenges for generations. Established in 1929, the Jewish Agency built the State of Israel and worked tirelessly to develop a vital modern nation.
Today, the Jewish Agency turns its attention to the greatest challenges of our times: a relentless erosion of Jewish communities and identity abroad and a decline among young Israelis of the social idealism that characterized Israel in its first decades. Working to ensure our Jewish future for generations to come, we bring Jews to Israel, and Israel to Jews, while re-energizing young Israelis to re-build an idealistic, model society in Israel.
Founded in 1914, today JDC works on behalf of the Jewish communities of North America in Israel and more than 70 countries across the former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America to alleviate hunger and hardship, rescue Jews in danger, and create lasting connections to Jewish life. JDC builds Israel’s human capital by empowering its most vulnerable citizens – youth at risk, the elderly, people with disabilities, the ultra-Orthodox, Israeli Arabs, and new immigrants – with the tools they need to participate in the country’s future.
World ORT works for the advancement of the Jewish People through education and training for employment in Israel, CIS and Baltic States, Latin America and other countries.
Its mission is to provide individuals worldwide with the skills and knowledge necessary to cope with the challenges of their environment and to foster economic self-sufficiency, mobility and a sense of identity through the use of state-of-the-art technology. World ORT works in partnership with JFNA and other major Jewish organizations and educational institutions to deliver the best practical education for those in need.

The National Federation/Agency Alliance
In addition to meeting global Jewish needs, our Jewish Federation movement also helps fund and partners with important Jewish organizations in North America. We do that primarily through the National Federation/Agency Alliance, which is supported by dozens of Federations. The Alliance structure helps allocate, evaluate and/or review national agencies that seek allocations from Federations. We are the rising leaders of the Jewish community. Each of us wants to make a difference, and together we speak louder and have a greater impact.
We share common goals, whether we’re professionals or grad students, just starting our adult lives or married with children. As we grow our families and build our careers, we also want to be part of something that improves the world around us.
It’s in our hands to shape the future – as humanitarians, activists and philanthropists.
We embrace our responsibility to advocate for those in need, in our own communities and around the globe.
Join us and be the change that creates a better world.
